Even the Most Popular and Beneficial Ingredients May Be Mixed With Harmful Ingredients

Vitamin C, Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Mineral Oil, Benzoyl Peroxide, Niacinamide, Ceramides

It’s not just the ingredients included that matters, but how much of it is included. If you add 20% vitamin C to an anti-aging serum, it will be a winner. But if you add only 1%, it won’t do anything to combat anti-aging. Too little of an important ingredient is almost useless. Some products will misleadingly advertise its inclusion even if there’s not enough to be effective.

We will rank the included ingredients from the highest to lowest concentration. The first ingredient listed will normally be a water type which will make up 70% of the product and that is normally. The next 4 ingredients are typically included at concentrations of 3% to 5% and that is where you want to see the most beneficial and not harmful ingredients.

Even products with the most effective ingredients can include harmful fillers, preservatives and other ingredients that can lead to future health problems or cause other skin or hair problems you’re trying to solve. Some of the ingredients included can even be banned or restricted in Europe, Canada, or Japan while still included in products you’re currently using.

We will disclose important information about any potential toxic ingredients included in each product you enter, and we will recommend a safer and effective alternative product when needed.

We Will Disclose the Concentration Levels of Beneficial Ingredients & Any Harmful Ingredients in the Products You’re Using

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient that your body can not produce on its own. It accelerates the production of collagen and elastin which help keep skin plump and firm. Using the proper vitamin C, in the most effective concentration, helps reduce premature wrinkles, unevenness in skin tone, dull skin and helps keep skin firmer and more radiant.

Dermatologists with supporting clinical studies agree that the most effective form of vitamin C is L-ascorbic acid ( a pure form of vitamin C), in concentrations of 10% to 20%. However, many products being marketed as a vitamin C serum contain less effective forms of vitamin C and also small ineffective concentrations.

Retinol

Retinol is a type of vitamin A that speeds up cellular renewal to improve the tone and texture of your complexion. It also blocks excess oil buildup that leads to acne in the form of whiteheads, blackheads and red bumps. Retinol fades lines and wrinkles, controls acne, tightens the appearance of pores and continually renews skin to make it softer, smoother and more youthful.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B-3, an essential nutrient. A B-3 deficiency can lead to disorders of the skin, kidneys, and brain. Although more research is needed, topical niacinamide may help treat certain skin conditions, including acne, rosacea, redness and eczema. It also helps minimize the appearance of pores. When applied topically, it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on the skin.

Some research has found that a 5% concentration of niacinamide, although some products have concentrations as low as 2%, can be helpful in lightening dark skin spots (hyperpigmentation), and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles and reduces some lines of sun damage that comes with aging.

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is best known for its ability to deep clean excess oil out of pores and reduce oil production. It can actually get deep inside your pores compared to other ingredients that only skim what they can off the top of your pores.

Because salicylic acid unclogs pores, fresh air gets into the skin and creates a more oxygen-rich environment that's less friendly to acne bacteria. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that calm irritated, inflamed skin.

Hyaluronic Acid

The key benefit of hyaluronic acid is to help your skin retain moisture. This is important because when the top layer of skin doesn’t have enough moisture it appears dry, rough, and flaky. Hydrated skin shows lighter and less visible wrinkles. Hydrated skin also looks and feels smoother. Hyaluronic acid causes your skin to retain water, and that improves firmness and elasticity which prevents common signs of skin aging.

Regular use of hyaluronic acid creams is linked to a real improvement in wrinkles, skin elasticity and other common signs of aging. However, it’s important to understand that hyaluronic acid doesn’t actually stop aging. Like other skin care products, it’s more effective at reducing the signs of aging than stopping them entirely.

Mineral Oil

Mineral oil is created during the process of producing gasoline. It contains 1,4-Dioxane, which is listed by the World Health Organization and the Environmental Protection Agency as being linked to causing cancer. Mineral oils that are untreated are the most toxic.

Mineral oil doesn’t actually do anything for your skin – it just sits as a layer on top of your skin protecting it from the atmosphere. It’s going to stay status quo and you’re going to have to rely on mineral oil over and over. Since mineral oil clogs your pores (and doesn’t let water out), it traps bacteria and produces whiteheads, blackheads, and zits!

Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide is most effective with inflammatory acne because it kills the bacteria that is causing the inflammation.

While it can be a very effective acne treatment, some people experience side effects like dry skin and peeling skin, eczema, burning, itching, stinging sensation, redness and pain, when first beginning to use it.

Ceramides

Ceramides help lock moisture into your skin to help prevent dryness and irritation. This reduces the appearance of aging, because lines and wrinkles are more noticeable when the skin is dry. Ceramides are used in shampoos as a conditioning agent and help restore the appearance of dry or damaged hair.

Scientists at the University of Utah Health recently discovered that people with high blood levels of ceramides are at least three or four times as likely to have a stroke or heart attack than those with lower blood levels of this lipid.

Manufacturers Can Hide Their Use of Harmful Ingredients

Harmful Ingredients are frequently hidden by not commonly known names in all kinds of beauty Products, including the expensive brands. Arsenic, for example, is labeled under several different names including Atomic Number 33, Fowler's Solution, Numero Atomique 33, Solution de Fowler, and many others. Each commonly known ingredient name may be hidden on a product label with alias names which makes reading labels to identify the true identity of included Ingredients, without the use of sophisticated computer programs, an almost impossible task.

Even Brands Labeled "Natural", "Nontoxic", Or "Earth Friendly" Can Be Unsafe

A recent study by the Organic Consumers Association found that 40% of all "natural" beauty products (tested in the study) contained dangerous carcinogenic (cancer causing) Ingredients. Ingredients like arsenic, chromium, lead, cobalt, nickel, mercury, formaldehyde, and many other harmful Ingredients are present naturally in the earth and are legally considered "natural. Natural Ingredients are virtually unregulated and can also be hidden from you by using one of dozens of alternate names.

Some Retailers and Online Sites Market “Ingredient Safety” But Are Hiding the Truth

Several major retailers and online sites have labeled some of the products they sell as "Green", or "Safe", but upon investigation we found those products exclude less than 100 of the over 1,400 Ingredients banned in other parts of the world. Not much of a solution for this important health safety problem.

Even Small Ingredient Amounts Can Become Dangerous

Applying harmful ingredients can be taking an unseen, and creeping toll on your long-term physical and mental health. Even trace amounts of dangerous product Ingredients can be dangerous

At first, your body's organs (kidneys, liver, etc.) slowly flush these Ingredients out of your body. However, many toxins accumulate over time and can build faster than your body can clear them out.

The more these toxins build up, the more of a toll they take on your health. At first your energy level, mental focus, and short-term memory might just seem a little less sharp. Most of us blame this on age. But then you start getting sick a little more often. You have a few more aches and pains. It takes you longer to recover from illness, injury, or even a night of moderate drinking. At some point, your skin and hair might start to look less full and shiny.

Even Expensive Brands Failed The Toxicity Test

The FDA conducted a survey of heavy metals in cosmetics, and found that arsenic, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, lead, mercury, and nickel were present in unsafe amounts in both luxury and budget brands. Even worse, because higher priced products tend to have a longer ingredient list, there's a greater chance for toxic ingredient contamination. And again, without proper ingredient analysis you would never know you're using products that include these harmful Ingredients.
