Hand Sanitizer Dangers: The Covid 19 Pandemic has caused a significant increase in the use of hand sanitizers. In October 2021, the FDA published three Hand Sanitizer guidance documents. They listed over 150 hand sanitizers they say consumers should immediately stop using because they include toxic ingredients.

The FDA , in one release stated: “Substantial methanol exposure, included in many Hand Sanitizers, can result in blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system or death.’”

Several research studies have reported that triclosan, included in some hand sanitizers, has negative effects on fertility, fetal development, and rates of asthma. According to the FDA, triclosan present in a hand sanitizer also causes hormone problems.

Kitchen Sanitizer Dangers: The ingredients in kitchen cleaners are designed to disinfect countertops, appliances, stove, dishes, and kitchen sink germ-free, but many of these products also produce harmful fumes that we inhale, or if touched directly or from touching a residue buildup on the surfaces previously cleaned. In fact, some sanitizers and cleaners are among the most toxic products found in the home.

In 2000, cleaning products were responsible for nearly 10% of all toxic exposures reported to the U.S. Poison Control Centers, accounting for 205,636 calls, and it’s much worse today.

Of these calls, 120,434 exposures involved children under six, who can touch recently cleaned surfaces and touch their mouth or eyes, as well as swallow cleaners left open.
